The Earned Schedule Exchange

New Year, New Topic: Basic ES Metrics Revisited

With the new year, it's time for a new topic, or rather, an old topic revisited.

When I first started the blog, I described basic Earned Schedule (ES) metrics: the amount of schedule earned (ES as a metric), Schedule Performance Index  for time (SPIt), Schedule Variance for time (SVt), and Estimate at Completion for time (EACt). I went on to consider Statistical Analysis (EACtHi, EACtLo) because variance was important to the use of EACt.

Once the basics were covered, I went into the details of P-Factor, its associated metrics (e.g., Schedule Adherence Index--SAI), Rework and its associated metrics, Impediments and Constraints and associated metrics.

In the future, I'll return to advanced metrics such as Duration Increase due to Rework, Opportunity for Recovery, and Probability of Recovery. (All of the metrics mentioned thusfar are included in the newest release of the Schedule Performance Analyzer©.)

For now, it's time to recap the basics.
